As of today, there are only two months until Christmas! How do you feel about that? It's a hugely commercialized holiday. I'd like to go without all the junk that seems to go with it, but I do like some of it. I like small doses of music. I like finding fun gifts for family. I like wrapping gifts. I like decorations, pretty much, but I don't do ladders, and Sir Husband doesn't do Christmas lights, so there will be no lights on the outside of our house. I like getting together with family, seeing all the nieces and nephews and things. (Yeah, things. My niece brought a hamster to a gathering before. Cute hamster, true story.) But I don't like excesses of music, especially any that starts too soon (much like I'm doing with this post about Christmas when it's not even Halloween yet.) I don't like crowds. I don't like spending a lot of money (so I don't do it). I don't like food hangovers from eating too much sugar or eating bad combinations. I don't like driving in crappy weather. I don't like all the mushy facebook posts about how Jesus is the true reason for Christmas, even if he is. I like Santa Claus just fine and don't mind them co-existing for a day. btw, here is an article on how the date for Christmas was chosen. Since this guy's researched it a lot more than I have, he is probably right. Tell me what you like and don't like about Christmas, and whether you've started shopping or knitting or whatever. I have, but I'm not telling you what I bought or made, cuz the wrong parties would surely get the information. |
